Solo Sanshiro
A long-established izakaya founded in 1946. A famous restaurant with a Showa era atmosphere and charcoal-grilled dishes.
Located a 15-minute walk from Asahikawa Station, in a section of downtown 3 and 6, this long-established izakaya was founded in 1946. The counter and interior of the store, which have been in use since its opening, still have a strong Showa atmosphere, and are wrapped in a nostalgic atmosphere that makes you feel like time has stopped. It is also featured in “Lonely Gourmet” and is also a famous restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide Hokkaido Edition 2012.
The signature menu is “Shinkoyaki”, which is slowly charcoal-grilled in a furnace that has been used since its founding. The dish of young chicken grilled in a secret sauce is exquisitely rich in sauce and tender chicken, and the “sauce rice” with this sauce is also exquisite. In Hokkaido, the standard sashimi platter such as octopus head, tuna, and horse chestnut is also fresh, and even though it is an inland town, you can enjoy the seafood well.
The Japan sake selected by the proprietress who is a certified sake tasting has a wide variety and goes well with the food. A variety of homely and warm a la carte dishes, such as vinegar beans and minced rice noodles, will soothe the hearts of visitors. It is a representative izakaya in Asahikawa that is loved by many people, from local regulars to tourists.
