Galactic Falls and Meteor Falls
See two beautiful waterfalls in pairs
Among the many attractions in Sounkyo, the most popular scenic spot is the Galaxy Meteor Falls. The “Meteor Falls” (90m drop) and the “Galaxy Falls (120m drop)” that flows down the cliffs are lined up, and because of their contrasting appearances, Meteor Falls is also called “Man Falls” and Galaxy Falls is also called “Female Waterfall”. These two waterfalls have been selected as one of the “100 Best Waterfalls in Japan”.
From the “Sobakudai” observation deck, which is located about 20 minutes up the mountain road from the parking lot, a magnificent panorama of two waterfalls flowing down at the same time spreads out, attracting visitors. The fresh greenery, autumn leaves, and icefalls that freeze in the harsh winter are also a major attraction for the different expressions of the four seasons. Please experience the power and elegance of Mother Nature up close.
There is a shop called “Taki Mintara” in the parking lot, which is perfect for buying souvenirs and taking a break.
