Higashikawa Town Complex Exchange Facility Sento Pia
It consists of two buildings: the quaint Sento Pia I, which was renovated from the former Higashikawa Elementary School, and the newly built Sento Pia II, which has modern functions.
This entire facility plays a central role in disseminating the “photography culture”, “furniture design culture”, and “Daisetsuzan culture” advocated by Higashikawa Town.
In particular, the “Oda Collection”, which symbolizes furniture design culture, is a must-see. Daily necessities such as world-class Scandinavian furniture collected by chair researchers are on permanent display, and their design and historical value attract visitors. In addition, there is a library function (Sentopia II), a community café (everyone’s cafeteria) that makes use of local ingredients, and a Japanese language school. It serves as a place for residents’ creative activities, international exchange, and relaxation, and is the center of Higashikawa Town, where culture, design, and warm exchanges between people are born.
