Daisetsu Asahidake Source Park
A famous water spot certified as "Japan's 100 Famous Waters" where the blessings of Daisetsuzan Mountains spring up
Higashikawa Town, located almost in the center of Hokkaido, at the foot of Daisetsuzan National Park, is known as the only town in Hokkaido that does not have a water supply.
The reason for this is that the meltwater stored by the great nature of the Daisetsuzan Mountains slowly seeps deep into the ground over a long period of time and is carefully transported to the entire town.
“Daisetsu Asahidake Source Water” is known as a famous water created by such nature, rich in minerals, and the water temperature is constant at about 6~7 degrees Celsius throughout the year. The clear water that springs up vigorously enriches the life of Higashikawa Town.
At the water intake point of “Daisetsu Asahidake Source Rock”, which draws water from the source, anyone can freely draw this exquisite famous water.
From spring to autumn, it is also recommended to visit the source by walking along the wooden path leading from the water intake.
