Chishima Sasa Crafts Museum
Surprising handicrafts woven by familiar plants. Exhibiting bamboo crafts
Chishimazasa is also popular as “root-bending bamboo” in Hokkaido. This is a rare facility that exhibits and sells bamboo crafts made from these familiar plants.
The museum is a gallery of delicate and practical bamboo baskets created as the “Bamboo Workshop of the North”, such as bags, flower baskets, and daily necessities. Chishima Sasa crafts, which were nurtured in a snowy area, have been selected as hometown tax return gifts in Hifu Town due to their beauty and durability.
Located just a short distance from JR Hifu Station, it is a spot where you can experience Hokkaido’s rich nature and handicraft culture through crafts. Please note that the museum is closed during the winter season.
In addition, there are also experiences of going to collect Chishima bamboo with craftsmen and basket making workshops.
