Asahikawa Winter Festival

The Asahikawa Winter Festival is one of the big winter events representing Hokkaido.
It is held every year on the banks of the Ishikari River as the main venue.

The biggest attraction of this festival is the huge snow sculptures created with the cooperation of the Self-Defense Forces.
It is one of the largest snow sculptures in the world,
and the theme changes every year, and castles and famous characters are recreated on a majestic scale.
At night, projection mapping and illumination are held, and the snow sculptures shine brightly in color, creating a magical world.

In addition to a giant maze appearing at the venue, original goods will also be sold.
There are also highlights such as a 100-meter-long slide that slides down from a large snow statue, snow sculptures of various sizes created by citizens, and
fireworks launched from behind the large snow statue.

A “Winter Marche” where you can enjoy gourmet food is also planned, and you can enjoy local gourmet food, local cuisine, and
the original menu of the Asahikawa Winter Festival.

The Ice Sculpture World Competition is held at the Peace Street Shopping Park, a sub-venue, and beautiful ice sculptures by ice sculptors are lined up and
lit up at night, making it a must-see sight like an ice city.
