“Furarito” is a small street located in 7-chome 5-jo-dori, Asahikawa City, and is a red-light district that retains the atmosphere of the early Showa era. The Central Market was established at its current location around Taisho 9 (1920), and the entire area was burned down in a fire in Showa 14 (1939). After that, long-established stores such as ramen shops and izakayas began to set up stores, and in 2004 (Heisei 16), it was nicknamed “5.7 Koji Furarito” by public recruitment from citizens. The narrow grounds, wooden signs, and hanging lanterns evoke a sense of a forgotten era, but these give the alleys a lively and inviting atmosphere. In addition to izakaya and ramen shops, there are 18 restaurants including sushi restaurants, yakitori restaurants, and sake specialty Japan sake restaurants, and it is also nicknamed “Yakitori Koji” and is famous for its yakitori. Please go when you stay in Asahikawa!
