Rising Bridge
The style of Hokkaido's heritage and the flow of the Ishikari River are intertwined, and the arch bridge symbolizes Asahikawa
The Asahi Bridge, which spans the Ishikari River that flows through the center of Asahikawa City, is a beautiful Hokkaido heritage site with heavy steel arches and rivet designs. Since its completion in 1932, it has been a landmark that has watched over the development of the city, and is most loved by many citizens as a symbol of Asahikawa among the many bridges. From the bridge, you can see the majestic flow of the Ishikari River, the surrounding cityscape, and the mountains in the distance. The expression changes with the four seasons, and the spring buds, summer sky, autumn leaves, and winter snow makeup further enhance the shape of the bridge. From dusk to night, it is also a popular photo spot combined with the illumination and city lights. We recommend walking on the bridge as well as looking up from the riverbed promenade.
