Not far from Asahikawa Station, Ginza Shopping Street is a retro-modern area with long-established specialty stores, young shops, galleries, second-hand clothing and miscellaneous goods, bars, and snacks in an arcade street that has been going on since the end of the war. During the day, you can visit daily necessities, clothing, recycling, and second-hand bookstores, and at night, you can enjoy a deep ladder drink at a unique izakaya or snacks—the appeal is to change your expression depending on the time of day. The scenery of the signboard buildings and arcades that retain the appearance of the Showa era is perfect for taking a photo walk.
In Heisei 13, “Ginza Nakami Street” with torii-shaped street lights was developed as it is now, and seasonal events such as the “Benten Festival” and “Ginza Tanabata Festival” are held to liven up the area, and you can encounter warm exchanges rooted in local life. Together with the surrounding shopping parks and Joban Park, please use it as a fun walking course in the city.
